Album trivia 1

Diva de Lai’s Dylan on the Radio album trivia:
“No compromise was made with the quality of the instruments: when we needed a piano, we went and looked for the a studio with the best Grand; when we needed a Rhodes, we brought in a Rhodes. This is all the same for the acoustic instruments as well as the double bass, trumpets and even a real full scale harp that was used on two of the tracks!”

From Chrismukkah to Hanukkah By Jocelyn Weiss

I made Aliyah one year ago, joining my younger brother who has been living here for two years.  Just recently we realized that the holidays were coming up!  Having been raised in the north suburbs of Chicago, my impression of the holiday season was wrought with the annoyance of having it shoved in my face for months starting right around the end of October.  Gone are the days when I heard Christmas music day in and day out.  There are no more bombarding advertisements, no more decorations,…

Forum On Judaica Topics For Jewish Teens

We are creating an online forum for Jewish teens, grades 10 – 12, and we are asking for your help.

The forum is to give the teens a tool to learn Judaic studies online while interacting with other Jewish teens in their age group.

1. Students will register now with the understanding that when we have at least 60 students they will be asked to pay $180 per year.

2. From that point forward, only the paying students will be on the system for one year.

Zara Holocaust Shirt and Sweatshops

Spanish fashion retailer Zara earned the ire and incredulity of people worldwide after tweets aimed at the company lambasted it for producing a child’s sheriff star shirt that resembled the uniform worn by Jews in concentration camps during the Holocaust. The company of course apologized and the shirt (pictured above) was immediately pulled from its […]

The Hounourable Woman: Part II

If you haven’t read my first post about The Hounourable Woman, then you should do so before reading this. First I must say how surprised I was with all of the comments that my review of the first half of the miniseries received. I’ll talk about that later, but first I would like to point […]

You can’t look at Facebook or TV these days without seeing the latest Ice Bucket Challenge™ by a celebrity, friend, politician, marching band, rabbi, cantor, or summer camp (Nice to see the “Challenge” has been trademarked) Last month, few people knew about ALS – even many of those that were […]

When Radical Feminists Squirm It Makes Me Smile

When radical feminists squirm, it makes me smile, and it’s not because I am anti-feminist. It’s because when any radical viewpoint is challenged it brings me pleasure. My definition of radical feminism is those who on a very deep level believe that men and women are the same except for the obvious physical differences. These […]
